Meet Heather Lawrence, Executive Director of Sullivan House Senior Living in Marietta, GA

With over two decades of diverse experience in healthcare, senior care, and management, Heather Lawrence is a dedicated and passionate professional known for her expertise in dementia care and team leadership. She has been instrumental in starting two memory care units from the ground up, providing personalized care and training, and enriching the lives of seniors. Heather has undergone extensive training with The Alzheimer’s Association and renowned dementia expert Teepa Snow, and she leads community support groups for dementia, offering guidance and support to families and caregivers.

A certified Second Wind Dreams Dementia Tour facilitator, Heather has conducted dementia training and tours for families, caregivers, first responders, and the Cobb County Police and Fire Departments. Her contributions to dementia care also extend to her work at WellStar Atherton Place, where she helped transform independent living facilities into personal care communities, emphasizing the importance of activities and engagement for seniors.

 

Heather Lawrence holds a degree in Gerontology from Kennesaw State University, where she was nominated for a scholarship by Cobb County Senior Services. Over the years, she has worn many hats, from CNA and CMA to Management and Activities Director. She also has owned a personal care home, Tabitha’s Retreat. Her personal connection to Alzheimer’s, having cared for her grandmother, aunt, and now her own parents, deepens her commitment to making lasting memories with the seniors and the families she serves.

 

Outside of work, Heather is a devoted mother of two sons, Alex and Drew, and has been married to her husband Matt for 30 years. Football is a central part of their family life, with both sons playing in high school and college. 

 

Heather is passionate about building relationships and creating meaningful experiences for the people in her care, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touches.
